A little bit about me….

I am a Mum of two young girls. Before I was a Mum I worked as a hairdresser and recently I started my own Youtube channel to share my creativity and skills. The channel is here.

What made you start colouring?

I never really stopped from the moment I could hold a pencil as a child. My Mum said to me when I was about 3, "You could be an artist one day," and that gave me the spark to create.  It really started as a real hobby a few years back when I found a fairy colouring book that was aimed at adults while shopping for my daughter.

Do you consider colouring to be an art?

Yes, and in fact it has improved my art skills and confidence so much that in the last couple of months I have taken on coloured pencil works of art, and have been really pleased with the outcomes. I know some people like colouring for the relaxing quality it has and don't think too hard about what they're doing, which is great! But generally when I colour I am very focussed.

What materials do you like to use?

I like to use mainly pencils; Polychromos in particular. But I also like using felt pens, fine liners and watercolour paints.

Which is your favourite colouring book?

Tough question. I have a few I enjoy doing and my top three would be -
- Hanna Karlzon's Daydreams
- Romantic Country by Eriy
- The Official A Games of Thrones Colouring book

How much time do you spend colouring?

I do all my colouring at the dining table, and will find myself colouring for a couple of minutes most times I walk past it. I generally get a couple of days each day when one of my daughters is at pre-school and the other takes her nap. During that time I get to have peace and quiet to really focus on my colouring. I also spend time colouring in the evening, especially if my husband is watching a rugby game!

Do you frame your finished colourings? Or display them?

I have a couple of pictures framed in my girls' rooms, but I also like to make my favourite pictures into background wallpaper on my phone and computer.

What is your favourite colour?

I always gravitate towards purple, but I have found it difficult to find the perfect purple pencil/pen. (Me too - Prue)

What advice would you have for other colourists?

Have fun!

Thanks Alicia. What lucky girls to have such a talented Mum.
